Coronal brain section from an adult NG2-Dsred transgenic mouse. NG2+ cells (red) are distributed throughout both the white matter and gray matter regions of the brain, whereas neuronal dendrites (MAP2 blue) are largely restricted to gray matter. Neruonal synapses onto NG2+ cells are present in both white and gray matter regions.
