“S1 Cortical Neurons Repel Incoming Mef2c-KO Callosal Axons via Ephrin-Eph Signaling”, submitted by Luis Guzman-Clavel at the Alex Kolodkin Lab
The image shows a portion of murine primary somatosensory cortex (S1), where neurons from contralateral homotopic regions project their axons (yellow) via the corpus callosum during development. Loss of the transcription factor Mef2c in Layer 2/3 neurons of S1 leads to decreased axonal targeting to this region via sensitizing the projecting axons to a repulsive EphrinA cue, which is expressed by neurons at the target domain (cyan). DAPI is shown in magenta. For more information, see Sudarsanam, Guzman-Clavel et al. In-Utero Electroporation by Sriram Sudarsanam.
