“Spatial Spatial transcriptomics captures brain regions in the hummingbird bobtail squid, Euprymna berryi”, submitted by Alyson Hally in the Loyal Goff Laboratory at McKusick-Nathans Institute of Genetic Medicine, Johns Hopkins Medicine.
This image shows a targeted spatial transcriptomic panel of developmental genes in a transverse section of a 14-day-old hatchling Euprymna berryi. Common expression signatures are grouped by color. The transcriptomic signatures correlate with known tissue from outside-in, such as epithelium (light red/orange), lens (green), retina (yellow), white body (blue), optic lobes (multi-colored by layers red, green, and blue), and esophagus (dark red, in center). Color variation within known tissue regions indicate potential cell heterogeneity based on different expression signatures.
